Abstract A nondestructive photon activation with 30 MeV bremsstrahlung has been applied to the multielement determination in the pelagic sediments in a region of the Pacific Ocean. The abundances for 6 major and 10 trace elements were measured in several deep-sea floors and the core samples, discussion being given on the results. Determination of trace elements such as Cr, Co, Ni, and Sr is valuable because of their geochemical significance.
