Abstract CuO-loaded SnO2 element was found to show extraordinary sensing properties to H2S in air, with such high sensitivity as ca. 35 000 to 50 ppm H2S at 200 °C and switching-like recovery on turning off H2S. The change of state between CuO and CuS on the surface of SnO2 seems to be responsible for such unique sensing properties.
