Abstract

Introduction Actinomycosis is a chronic progressive suppurative disease characterized by the formation of multiple abscesses, draining sinuses, abundant granulation and dense fibrous tissue. This infection is considered caused by Actinomyces organisms, which are gram-positive anaerobic bacteria; these organisms are considered as opportunistic pathogens, as they are normally present in healthy individuals
