Carter, Jr. Centennial Professor in the School of Journalism at University of Texas at Austin. He is the author or coeditor of three books, including International Media Communication in a Global Age (Routledge, 2009). He has studied the role of new media in the presidential election since 1992 and has published more than 50 articles and book chapters, primarily in the area of political communication. He was recently elected as the inaugural president of the Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication Political Communication Interest Group. David D. Perlmutter David D. Perlmutter (Ph.D., University of Minnesota, 1995), is Director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and a Professor and Starch Faculty Fellow at The University of Iowa. A documentary photographer, he is the author or editor of seven books on political communication and persuasion including Blogwars: The New Political Battleground (Oxford, 2008). He has written several dozen research articles for academic journals as well as more than 200 essays for U.S. and international newspapers and magazines. He was recently elected to the Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication Standing Committee on Research. Perlmutter has been interviewed by most major news networks and newspapers, from the New York Times to CNN and ABC and The Daily Show. He regularly speaks at industry, academic, and government meetings.
