Chlamydial endocarditis has been infrequently reported. A case of blood-culture—negative endocarditis is described in which there was serological evidence of aChlamydia psittaciinfection. Chlamydiae were also identified in aortic valve vegetations by electron microscopy and immunofluorescent staining. Patients with culture-negative endocarditis should be evaluated for infection withChlamydiaas well as other uncommon pathogens. (JAMA1982;247:655-658)
