Abstract

The characteristics of hydrogenic impurity levels derived from higher-order two-dimensional subbands are discussed. Such states, falling in the continuum of lower subbands, behave as resonant states. Their shift and width are calculated starting from variational two-dimensional effectivemass wave functions. The results are then discussed in the light of experimental evidence for exciton states.
