Abstract

Abstract Alloplastic materials have essentially replaced metal plates for frontal cranioplasty. Methyl methacrylate (Cranioplast, acrylic, etc.) is the most widely used of the plastic materials. Despite its many advantages, this plastic implant is vulnerable to trauma, with resulting fragmentation, and in certain cases, brain injury. The placement of a wire mesh foundation through which the semisolid methyl methacrylate is poured creates a well anchored implant which does not fragment when fractured. Two case reports of such reconstruction are presented.
