Abstract

Bilirubin, consisted of tetrapyrrole, is the product of physiological heme degradation and the principal pigment of bile. So, if the reactive enzyme to bilirubin could be found, it may be expected to decolorize urine and feces and to be an analytical tool in the clinical fields. Recently we have succeeded in isolating a strain producing potent enzyme which is reactive tobilirubin. This strain was identified a s Myrothecium verrucaria MT-1.
