The title complex reacts with excess KOH and alkyl iodides RI [R = C2H5, C5H11, (CH2)6OMe] in dimethoxyethane (DME) under mild conditions to give specifically the hexa-alkylated complexes [FeCpC6(CH2R)6]+PF6–(Cp = C5H5).
