An electron gun is described which will provide a current of 0.16 μA at 2 eV, in a beam of convergence half-angle 0.03 rad, 2.5 mm in diameter at the space charge limited waist. At electron energies above 12 eV, the beam current is 2.7 μA and independent of energy.
