Well-dressed: A new method was developed to produce thermosensitive nanocrystals (NCs) by coating the NCs with an amphiphilic copolymer consisting of poly(maleic anhydride-alt-1-octadecene) (PMAO) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm; see photograph of coated Fe3O4 NCs at 20 °C and 40 °C). The method is general for all hydrophobic NCs produced by thermolysis. Detailed facts of importance to specialist readers are published as ”Supporting Information”.
