The recently observed spin splitting and anisotropy of cyclotron resonance in the conduction band of GaAs is quantitatively explained using a conduction-band Hamiltonian derived from a 14\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}14 k\ensuremath{\cdot}p model together with an established parameter set. We thus demonstrate the importance of remote band contributions in the valence-band part of the Hamiltonian, which have been neglected so far.
