Primary leiomyosarcomas of the inferior vena cava. <i>Report of a case and review of the literature</i>

Abstract

The authors report the twenty-first leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena cava and the seventh patient to undergo surgical treatment for this tumor. The literature is reviewed, and early and late clinical features of this tumor are noted. Recommendations regarding diagnosis and treatment are made, and emphasis is placed on the poor prognosis associated with this lesion.
