Leukocyte-Associated Viremia with Adenovirus Type 2 in an Infant with Lower-Respiratory-Tract Disease

Abstract

Adenoviruses have been isolated from the eye,1 urine2 and feces,3 as well as from the throat and nasopharynx.4 Dissemination to multiple organs has been reported during the course of severe adenovirus type 7 pneumonia in infants5 , 6 and in naval recruits with rubelliform illness,7 the virus being isolated from acute-phase serum specimens.
