Abstract

An abnormal 24-h pH-metry and symptoms suggestive for GERD were documented frequently in a large cohort of institutionalized intellectually disabled individuals. Further endoscopical evaluation confirmed the diagnosis of reflux esophagitis in the majority of these individuals.
