Abstract

Abstract The temperature of phase transition in phosphvanadate compounds is known to be strongly dependent on vanadium amount. Differential thermal analysis measurements reveal, for the first time, the existence of a tricritical point. A Brillouin scattering study has been performed in the monoclinic phase stable below Tc. Unexpected, with anomalous sign, discontinuities for C22 and C66 are then evidenced.
