Liquid-Crystalline 2, 6-Disubstituted Cycloheptimidazoles

Abstract

Abstract New liquid-crystalline, dichroic 2,6-disubstituted cycloheptimidazoles (1.3-diazaazu-lenes) have been synthesized and their transition temperatures have been determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). In view of the application of 6-arylazo-substituted cycloheptimidazoles as dyes for electrooptical displays (guest-host-cells), the order parameters of these compounds have been determined.
