Abstract

Facile CC cleavage is demonstrated to occur upon treatment of {(depe)NiBr}2(μ-Z,Z-PhCCHCHCPh) with TlPF6. The implications of this reaction for the Reppe cyclotetramerization of alkynes are discussed.
