Abstract

Summary The findings at lymphography and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection were compared in a retrospective study of 22 patients with malignant teratoma of the testes. The lymphographic criteria of lymph node metastases are assessed. The deviation of lymph vessels, often in combination with obstruction, was the most reliable sign of metastases in our material. The lack of filling a group of lymph nodes was a sign of metastases only if cavography and/or urography were pathological in the same area; otherwise this was not a reliable sign. Marginal filling defects were of minor importance in the diagnosis of lymph node metastases.
