Abstract

The tomographic findings in the attic and antrum were compared in 90 cases of cholesteatoma and 60 cases of uncomplicated chronic otitis media, all of which were surgically and microscopically confirmed. Particular attention should be given to destruction of the tip of the spur and the lateral attic wall in cholesteatomas affecting the attic. A smooth-walled, enlarged antral cavity is a sign of antral cholesteatoma.
