Going solo: The use of AlH3⋅NMe3 as a hydrogen-transfer agent with β-diketiminatogermanium(II) and β-diketiminatotin(II) halides gives the divalent hydrides [{HC(CMeNAr)2}GeH] and [{HC(CMeNAr)2}SnH] (Ar=2,6-iPr2C6H3). In the solid state, the compounds exhibit monomeric and dimeric arrangements, respectively, with weak intermolecular SnH⋅⋅⋅Sn contacts for the Sn analogue (see picture).
