Abstract Starting from Δ 5 ‐3β, 17β‐diacetoxy‐androstene (I) the new Δ 7;9,11 ‐3β, 17β‐dihydroxy‐androstadiene (XX) and the corresponding diacetate have been synthesized. These compounds are useful in the preparation of steroids with oxygen in 11‐position.
