Abstract Crystal field effects on inelastic neutron scattering, specific heat, and susceptibility are studied in PrCu 5. From the neutron scattering experiment the following crystal field parameters are determined: B 0 2 = 0.48 meV, B 0 4 = −8,5 × 10 −4 meV, and B 0 6 = 49 × 10 −6 meV B 6 6 = 14 × 10 −4 meV. The ground level is a P 1 singlet. Using these B m l the specific heat, the susceptibility, and the thermal conductivity of PrCu, are computed and compared with experimental results.
