Abstract

YTOLOGY was first introduced on a large scale to C the medical profession as a part of the cervix cancer detection system, colloquially known as the Pap smear. Within recent years, as a consequence of the ever widening use of other sampling techniques and particularly the renewed interest in the thin needle aspiration biopsy, the concept of cytologic diagnosis of cancer encompasses today virtually all organs and organ systems.
