Abstract

in Sweden, and Stengel and his associates Dahlgren studied 230 individuals, of whom 14 committed suicide within four years (15 were untraced), Stengel 138, of whom one committed and 17 attempted suicide within five years (11 were untraced). No attempt will be made here to summarize the other detailed findings of these investigations. The importance of such studies for the clinical assessment of suicidal attempts and for the validation of methods of their management needs no emphasis.
