Short stature in homozygous β‐thalassaemia is due to disproportionate truncal shortening

Abstract

Short stature in our patients with homozygous beta-thalassaemia is due to disproportionate truncal shortening. The aetiology of truncal shortening in this patient group is likely to be multifactorial, although hypogonadism and chelation therapy may be contributory factors.
