Wheel meet again: The titanium(IV) substituted [{β-Ti2SiW10O39}4]24− (1) consists of four β-Keggin moieties that are linked via Ti-O-Ti bonds leading to a cyclic arrangement (see picture; red WO6, green TiO6, and blue SiO4). The wheels stack to give a tunnel-like structure. Synthesis of 1 is from the dilacunary precursor [γ-SiW10O36]8− and gives insights into the mechanism of formation of polyoxoanion assemblies.
