Morphologic Development of the Human Fetal Labial Salivary Glands

Abstract

The human upper and lower labial salivary glands appear at about 65 gestational days; all of the buds appear at about the same time. The glands seem to be morphologically mature at about 179 gestational days with predominately mucous acini surrounded by serous demilunes. The excretory duct usually has a single lumen.
