Abstract This case history describes a patient with metastatic breast cancer treated sequentially with diethylstilbestrol, drug withdrawal, tamoxifen, and drug withdrawal again. An objective response was observed in all four instances. Withdrawal responses to tamoxifen exist and should be kept in mind for selected patients.
