The effect of the synthetic tripeptide H-Pro-Leu-Gly-NH2 on the secretion of PMSH was examined in 6 normal adult male subjects. Fifty mg of the tripeptide was infused over 30 min. In 5 subjects the plasma β-MSH levels at 15, 30, 60 and 90 min after the start of infusion, were not significantly different from the pre-infusion levels. In the sixth subject, plasma β-MSH levels decreased during the infusion of the tripeptide and were still low 60 min later.
