In severe acute pancreatitis, there was a strong association between the persistent down-regulation of HLA-DR expression and the late mortality. Furthermore, a cutoff value of 52.3% of HLA-DR expressed monocytes on the 10th hospitalization day is a good predictor for late mortality in patients with severe acute pancreatitis.
