Abstract

A metallic prolate spheroid is coated with a confocal layer of penetrable material that is either isorefractive or anti-isorefractive to the surrounding space. An exact solution is obtained in terms of infinite series of prolate spheroidal wave functions when the primary source is an electric or magnetic dipole located on the symmetry axis of the structure and axially oriented. Numerical results are presented and discussed.
