ADVANCED THERMAL PLASMA MODELLING

Abstract

The advanced techniques that have been applied to the computational
\nmodelling of thermal plasmas in the last ten to fifteen years are reviewed.
\nThe techniques considered include three-dimensional and time-dependent models,
\nsophisticated treatments of plasma turbulence and radiative transfer, modelling of
\ndemixing and of deviations from thermal and chemical equilibrium, and modelling
\nof multiphase flows, including the interactions between plasmas and solid
\nparticles, and plasma–liquid interfaces. Many illustrative examples are presented,
\nand the question of which advanced techniques should be applied in which situation
\nis considered.
