Abstract

The erythrocytes of certain individuals are pe- culiarly sensitive to the hemolytic effects of prima- quine and a number of related compounds. A va- riety of biochemical abnormalities has been un- covered in such erythrocytes, principally related to deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydroge- nase (G6PD) (1-3) but the mechanisms re- sponsible for the drug-induced hemolysis have not been clearly defined.
