Abstract

Magnetism of Y 2 Ni 7 and YNi 3 is studied. Linear and parallel M 2 -vs- H / M plots and large Rhodes-Wohlfarth ratios are obtained, confirming itinerant electron weak ferromagnetism. Analysis of magnetization data using the self-consistent renormalization theory of Takahashi shows the validity of his theory and the importance of spin fluctuation in the present compounds.
