Abstract

SUMMARY A series of four experiments designed to assess the effect of antiparkin‐sonism drugs on phenothiazine produced parkinsonism are described. It was difficult to distinguish the effects of the active drug from placebo when intravenous injections were employed, but using handwriting as an indication it was possible to distinguish the oral administration of Benztropine Mesylate from a placebo. The results are discussed and it is concluded that trials of intravenous preparations in the treatment of parkinsonism are likely to be invalid.
