Parametric Pumping with pH

Abstract

Abstract Separations of aqueous solutions of Na+ and K+ have been obtained using a recuperative pH parametric pumping system. A chromatographic column of cation exchange resin was subjected simultaneously to an alternating axial displacement of solution and to an alternating pH gradient. The synchronous coupling of these two actions produced a concentration enrichment of 15–80% above the feed.
