This book is a collection of material from recent periodical literature, each chapter containing several articles on a particular phase of hospital management and activity. The excellent selection indicates that extensive research was done by the editors, Dr. Arthur C. Bachmeyer and Dr. Gerhard Hartman, to include the best of writing in each field. The authors are recognized leaders in the hospital world, and the subjects are of practical import. As a work of general instruction, it should prove of outstanding value. A busy hospital director will find it a handy reference, with valuable information from other hospitals to aid in supplying the broad overview necessary for competent administration. Board members interested in improving or enlarging hospital facilities may find much food for thought after studying material on similar departments in other hospitals, as described in the book. The volume can be read profitably, either as a whole or in
