AbstractFormulation of semicircular canal transfer functions have to date been restricted to idealized cases. Recent information in cat, guinea pig and man on the precise orientation of the semicircular canals allows a more realistic specification of the forces acting on the cupulae during any head rotation. This research was supported by grants from the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia, the US Public Health Service Grant NS-06658, and NASA. Computing Assistance was obtained from the Health Sciences Computing Facility, UCLA, sponsored by NIH Special Research Resources Grant RR-3.
