Cross sections for the ionisation of helium by electron impact in a distorted-wave model

A distorted-wave model, which takes into account polarisation and absorption in the initial state, is applied to the ionisation of helium by electrons in the energy range 100-400 eV. Double, single and total cross sections are computed and compared with the experimental data.
