Well-defined poly(3-hexylthiophene) P3HT macroinitiators for atom transfer radical polymerization have been prepared by introducing a phenyl group at the ω-bromo-chain end. Capping of the ω-chain end with a phenyl group allows the preparation of high purity P3HT block copolymers.
