Syntheses of (R13P)2ClPdC(N2)R2(1) and (R13P)2Pd[C(N2)R2]2(2), the first α-diazomethyl complexes of group 8 transition metals, are reported; their structures were determined from spectroscopic data and by X-ray crystallography of chloro[diazo(ethoxycarbonyl)methyl]bistriphenylphosphinepalladium (1a).
