Legal argument is based on the facts of a case as well as legal issues, concepts and factors. We assess the feasibility of using semantic events extracted from court judgements to adequately represent the legal concepts and factual content of cases for legal information retrieval (IR). Results of a preliminary study show extracted events are attributed with 74 % accuracy, 72 % legal importance, and representing 86% of sentence meaning. Categories and Subject Descriptors
