The basic equations of the itinerant oscillator model of liquids due to Sears are generalized to be consistent with the second fluctuation-dissipation theorem. The number of parameters is reduced from seven in Sears's treatment to five and, moreover, a better result is obtained for the velocity spectrum of liquid argon. As in Sears's calculation, the best value for the intensity of the random force correlation is greater by an order of magnitude than that calculated from the Lennard-Jones potential.
