Synthetic Studies on Pyrroloquinolines. I. Syntheses of 2, 3-Dihydro-1H-pyrrolo [2, 3-<I>b</I>] quinoline Derivatives

Abstract

2, 3-Dihydro-4-hydroxy-1H-pyrrolo [2, 3-b] quinolines (III) were prepared by reactions of 4-chloro-2, 3-dihydrofuro [3, 2-c] quinolines (1) with ammonia or primary amines. 4-Chloro-2, 3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo [2, 3-b] quinolines (VIII) were also prepared by the same amination of 2, 4-dichloro-3-(β-chloroethyl)-quinolines (II) accompanied with various minor products.The structures of these compounds were mainly confirmed by chemical methods.
