Monte Carlo calculations to determine the backscattering coefficient for electrons incident on bulk materials have been carried out on a Cray I using the electron/photon transport computer code sandyl. The elements Al, Cu, Ag, and Au have been studied over an energy range from 10 keV to 1 MeV, and the results are compared with some experimental data.
