Abstract

Abstract Novel mixed-ligand cyanonitrosyl complexes of manganese(o), obtained from the interaction of tetracyanadinitroaylmanganate(o) anion, [Mn(No)2(CN)2]2-, with 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazoline-5-one (MPHP), 2,3-dimethyl-1-phenyl-3-pyrazoline-5-one (DMPHP), 4-amino-2,3-dimethyl-1-phanyl-3-pyrazoline-5-one (ADMPHP), 2,3-dimethyl-4-methylaminome thanesulphonate sodium monohydrate-1-phenyl-3-pyrazoline-5-one (DMMASPHP) are described. The products, which have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductances, magnetic measurements, infrared, electronic and ESR spectral studies, have the general formula [Mn(No)2(CN)2(L)2].H2O (whem L - MPHP or DMPHP) and [Mn(No)2(CN)2(L-L)].H2O (where L-L = ADMPHP or DMMAASPHP). Suitable octahedral structures are suggested for the complexes. Manganese(o) has a low-spin{Mn(No)2}7 electron configuration1 in these complexes.
