Two novel nonlinear optical side-chain dendronized polymers have been synthesized by using a simple and mild post-functionalization method to graft highly polarizable chromophores bearing crosslinkable dendrons as side chains to poly(4-hydroxystyrene). This approach provides the combined advantages of better poling efficiency through the dendritic effect, and shortened development time required for synthesis. High poling efficiency and good temporal stability at room temperature are indeed demonstrated in these systems.
