Abstract LiNbO3 crystals codoped with Zn and In demonstrate some properties which are characteristic of LiNbO3 doped with optical damage resistant impurities Mg or Zn with concentrations above the ‘threshold’ values. The additive influence of Zn and In on optical properties of LiNbO3 indicates that In can be regarded as a relative of optical damage resistant Me impurities (Me = Mg, Zn, In…)
