In a case of gouty arthritis, narrowing of the intervertebral disk space at C3–4 was observed, together with end-plate erosion and erosive changes in the odontoid process. These findings were strikingly similar to the radiographic manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis. The patient had a 15-year history of clinical gout before he presented with acute cervical pain.
